- The system type. Central AC, heat pump, ductless mini-split, or furnace. In Virginia Beach it is usually a heat pump; if one outdoor unit handles both heating and cooling, that is what you have.
- The symptom. Warm air, no air, ice on the refrigerant lines, water on the floor, a breaker that trips, a new noise. Plain words are fine.
- Brand and age, if known. Both sit on the data plate - a sticker on the side of the outdoor unit or inside the air handler panel.
- What the thermostat shows. Blank screen, an error code, or set normally while the house stays warm.
- Your part of town. Great Neck, Kempsville, Sandbridge, or over in Norfolk or Chesapeake - it sets the arrival window.
